Forecast came to life in the mountains of Whistler, BC. This authentic grocery store and coffee bar roasts its own line of coffee beans, with a mission to bring people together and share their collective passion for the mountains, the sea, and their community.

The renovated grocery store offers local produce, staple groceries, an expanded menu of grab-and-go items, and an expansive boutique espresso bar with long-table seating.

What We Did

Branding a Community Grocer, Kitchen and Coffee Company

Forecast approached Ecstatic to work with them on the strategy and brand development of the Whistler grocery store, formerly known as Olives Market.

Poised to become Function Junction’s newest hangout, Forecast was looking to highlight its positive local impact, community incentives, support of local farmers, branded coffee line, as well as its environmental stewardship and give-back initiatives — values that Ecstatic stands by and supports wholeheartedly.

We were ready to jump in and build on their mission, through an exciting journey of brand storytelling and creative collaboration.

The initial strategy and creative framework for the Forecast brand was to connect people by offering authentic food and beverage experiences, and use business to cultivate positive change in the community and environment.

The main brand storytelling and design direction derived its inspiration from the landscape and energy of Whistler, BC. From the crystal blue lakes and dense forests, to the snow crusted peaks of the back country, Forecast celebrates life and the amazing souls that share their stories over an espresso and dream of what’s next.

“A big part of this change with Forecast Coffee is creating a big open space, and we’d like to get an event calendar going and have it as a community space where we can host events and talks, get involved in the community and the environment and start putting some money back into the community,” owner, Salusbury said.

Taking it Digital

Implementing the Shopify Experience

The initial website design and development pivoted quickly, due to the recent COVID-19 impact.

Our original vision was put on hold to adapt to our changing environment and social distancing policies put in place. We quickly shifted from the temporary, informational splash page to an online grocery store, utilizing the Shopify framework.

With support from the Forecast team, we were able to launch the site in a matter of weeks, offering free delivery to the Whistler and Squamish community

Coffee Brand

Organic, Fairtrade + Locally Roasted

Forecast offers its own signature brand of coffee, made in conjunction with East Van’s Agro Roasters.

Ecstatic worked closely with Forecast and its vendors to ensure the content and environmentally friendly Biotrē coffee bag design reflected the brandguide system in place. The results are not only a great cup of coffee, but a cohesive brand story that highlights the company values.
